Outdoor Egg Chairs & Swing Chairs
Outdoor swing chairs, egg chairs and hammock chairs for the deck, patio or garden. Choose a single hanging seat, a hammock chair on a steel stand, or a 2–3 seat swing bench with a canopy.
Materials include wicker, rope, cotton and powder-coated steel.
Which outdoor swing chair is right for me?
An egg chair or hammock chair suits one person and a small space; a swing bench with canopy seats two or three and works in an open garden.
| Type | Seats | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Egg chair on stand | 1 | About 1 x 1m floor space, 2m height |
| Hammock chair on stand | 1 | About 1 x 1m, no ceiling hook |
| Hanging chair (no stand) | 1 | A rated beam or hook |
| Swing bench with canopy | 2–3 | About 2 x 1.2m, flat ground |
Do outdoor egg chairs come with a stand?
Many do; the listing says "with stand" when one is included.
A stand means you can place the chair anywhere on flat ground, with no drilling into a beam or ceiling.
How much weight can a swing chair hold?
It depends on the model, so check the maximum load in the product specifications before you buy.
Single egg and hammock chairs are built for one adult. Swing benches are rated for two or three people combined.
How do I look after a swing chair outdoors?
Bring cushions and fabric seats inside in wet weather, and check chains, springs and bolts every few months.
Wipe wicker and steel with mild soapy water. Store fabric hammock seats dry to stop mould.
What should I check before I order a swing chair?
Check the stand footprint, the total height, the maximum load and whether a cushion is included.
Measure the space with the chair swinging, not just standing still, and keep it clear of walls, railings and pool fences. Stands need flat, firm ground such as pavers or decking. If you plan to hang a chair from a beam, use a rated hook and fittings and check the beam can take the weight.
Swing benches with canopies provide shade, but take the canopy down in strong wind.
Can I pay it off?
Yes. Pay with Afterpay or Zip, or check out with PayPal. A $258.69 wicker rope egg swing chair is four fortnightly Afterpay payments of $64.67.
